Sydney Sweeney is bringing the glamour to Toronto.
The actress wore a light pink Erdem gown that cinched at the waist to the premiere of her new movie Christy on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Toronto International Film Festival. The dress gathered at Sweeney’s hip with a red detail before fanning out into a small train.
Sweeney, 27, wore her blonde hair down in soft curls and kept her glam simple and super glowy.

In the sports biopic, the actress plays Christy Martin, who is a former professional boxer. Martin, 57, is widely credited for bringing female boxing into the mainstream.
In an interview with W Magazine published June 9, Sweeney opened up about the transformation required for the biopic. The actress gained over 30 pounds and trained more than three months to recreate Martin’s toned physique, she told the outlet.
“I started eating. I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour,” Sweeney said. “My body was completely different. But it was amazing: I was so strong, like crazy strong.”
The premiere comes on the heels of her recent film Americana, which was released in theaters on Aug. 22. The film is set in a South Dakota town as everyone gets embroiled in a plot to steal a prized Lakota “ghost shirt.”
The film releases also come shortly after her American Eagle advertisement left her embroiled in controversy in July, due in part to its tagline, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.” Critics of the ad claimed that using the word “jeans” as a play on “genes” was racially charged and hinted at genetic superiority.
Ahead of her TIFF premiere, Sweeney told Vanity Fair that she would not address any questions related to her American Eagle campaign while in Toronto — she was there to support her film.
“I am there to support my movie and the people involved in making it, and I’m not there to talk about jeans,” Sweeney said in the interview published Sept. 4. “The movie’s about Christy, and that’s what I’ll be there to talk about.”
