Phoebe Gates Splits from Boyfriend, Paul McCartney’s Grandson

Phoebe Gates and boyfriend Arthur Donald have broken up, PEOPLE confirms.

The youngest daughter of Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates is no longer dating Donald, 26, who is one of Paul McCartney‘s grandchildren — and she also has a new man in her life.

In the latest episode of her and Sophia Kianni’s The Burnouts podcast, Phoebe, 22, shared a few sly comments about the guy she’s currently dating, saying he “literally doesn’t have Instagram.”

“It’s amazing. It’s the best thing ever. And this is completely new for me. I’ve never been with someone like this,” she added.

Although she didn’t share any other clues about his identity, she did say that even though he’s not on Instagram, she still shows him the videos she makes for Phia, her shopping tool that uses artificial intelligence to find the best prices on fashion.

“I’m like, ‘Okay, well, sit on down, bud. Let me show you the new video that we just dropped on the Phia account because I put my left titty into producing this thing, okay? So, you’re going to sit here, and you’re going to watch it.’ And he’s like, ‘Okay,’ ” Phoebe said.

A rep for her had no comment when reached by PEOPLE. Donald could not immediately be reached.

Phoebe and Donald first sparked dating rumors in October 2023, and that month Phoebe shared a photograph of them smiling together on her Instagram account.

“Paris on film,” she captioned the snap. In January 2024, they were also photographed together attending the premiere of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

She publicly confirmed the pair’s romance for the first time in June 2024 when she shared a graduation photo diary with Nylon after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in human biology from Stanford University. Among the candid photos from her big day were some smiling shots with Donald, whom she referred to as her boyfriend.

Months later, they attended The Albies together alongside Phoebe’s mom.

In an interview with The New York Times earlier this year, Phoebe opened up about her life in New York City, playfully noting that Donald wasn’t a fan of a painting of a pink cassette tape that she bought for around $20 at a market.

Phoebe — who launched Phia with Kianni, her friend and former roommate — told the outlet that Donald hated the art piece so much so that he removed it from the wall whenever he visits.

Donald, the grandson of Beatles star Paul McCartney, lives in California but travels to N.Y.C. to visit Phoebe on weekends, the newspaper reported at the time, noting that they met for the first time when Phoebe did a collaboration with designer Stella McCartney, Donald’s aunt.

He is the eldest son of Mary McCartney and her ex-husband, TV producer Alistair Donald.

Phoebe previously dated Stanford alum Robert Ross, while Donald has been linked to Ava Phillippe, daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe.
