On Friday, Sept. 5, MTV announced the Black Sabbath rocker, who died at age 76 on July 22, will be honored during this year’s Video Music Awards with a tribute performance of his greatest hits featuring Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt.
Aerosmith previously shared a statement upon Osbourne’s death. “We’re heartbroken to hear about the passing of our brother in rock, Ozzy Osbourne. A voice that changed music forever,” began the band.

“From Black Sabbath to his solo work, Ozzy redefined what it meant to be heavy. He did it all with heart, grit, and that wild spirit only he could bring,” continued the statement. “Our love goes out to Sharon, his family, his band, and the millions around the world who felt his fire.”
Tyler, 77, was also in attendance at Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final concert in July at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.
Bettencourt performed with Osbourne at the show, and his band Extreme honored the “Crazy Train” singer with a medley of his hits at a concert in Zürich last month.
Osbourne previously appeared in Yungblud’s “The Funeral” music video alongside his wife, Sharon, in September 2022. He also gave the rocker a custom necklace before the Villa Park show and vowed to play Black Sabbath’s “Changes” each night “for the rest of my life” following his death.
