Randy Moss says he was “overwhelmed” when he was diagnosed with cancer — but that he was motivated to help another former NFL star through his own “journey” with the disease.

After Deion Sanders was diagnosed with bladder cancer, Moss said he spoke with his fellow former NFL star about the disease, and it in turn helped him process the death of his brother while helping Sanders through the trauma.

“He called me, and the first thing he said was ‘I need you,’ ” Moss, 48, told Robin Roberts in an emotional interview on Good Morning America. “And when he said that, it took me back to my brother.”

Moss said his older brother Eric Moss “mysteriously died” in 2019 of heart failure.

Since then, the Hall of Famer said that he has been unable to come to terms with the loss, especially now that he is the same age.

“The one thing that I always prayed to God was, ‘God, just get me to 50.’ ”

When Sanders, 58, reached out to Moss — who is now in remission from bile duct cancer — the former Minnesota Vikings star realized that he had just walked a similar path.

“He said, ‘Mossy, I’m struggling with this, I haven’t left my bedroom for like four or five days,’ ” Moss recalled.

He added, “And I just said, ‘Prime, I know what you’re going through, because when I got home, I didn’t want to leave my bedroom.’ ”

In the interview, Moss revealed that he underwent a six-hour surgery in which parts of several of his organs were removed, followed by chemotherapy and radiation.

But Moss’ wife, Lydia Moss, was able to help him through the tough time, he said.

“One thing that my wife told me is, ‘Man, get on out here and let the family love you. They miss you,’ ” Moss recalled. “So, that’s the same message I gave Coach Prime, and he did that, and right when he did that, he texted me back a couple days and told me thank you.”

Through his friendship with Sanders, Moss is now on the mend, physically and emotionally.

“That was more of a burden lifted off of my chest because of what I’ve been going through over the last couple of years that I could finally be there for somebody,” he said.

He added, “I think there’s a lot of, when I say selfish men, I don’t mean it in a disrespectful way. I think it’s more that, you don’t want to go see that doctor before it’s too late.”
