TikTok star Okay Baby’s mom Katelynn Ordone has taken to a new form of sharing on social media following the tragic accident that killed her 2-year-old son, Preston.

On Aug. 27, the influencer posted her first “day-in-the-life” video on her family’s YouTube page, explaining her hope that vlogging would improve her mental health.

Katelynn and her husband, Jaelen Ordone, were both involved in the car collision that occurred on April 24 in Louisiana, but only their son was killed by “blunt force injuries,” per his official cause of death. As previously reported by PEOPLE, the Ordones’ older daughter, Paisley, was not in the car at the time of the crash.

In her new YouTube video, Katelynn explained how grief and depression have made daily tasks incredibly difficult for her, and a recent change in routine has further increased her poor mental state.

“I miss my son so much, but I’ve always just tried to be strong for my daughter, which I am, but she started school recently,” said Katelynn. “It gives me a really good excuse to just lay in bed and not doing anything while she’s in school.”

She added that she’s not sure if her constant exhaustion is a result of her depression or somewhat due to the brain injury she sustained in the car accident. “It’s probably both, really,” said Katelynn.

The mom also shared that her depression has led her to gain 20 pounds since the accident, and she’s hoping to adopt healthier lifestyle routines.

“There’s two kinds of people in this world when they become depressed. Some people, when they’re depressed, they can’t eat. They can’t even think about food. They don’t want to touch anything,” she noted while filming in her car. “There’s some people in this world when they’re depressed is like all they can do is eat. I think it goes without saying which one I am.”

She added that she’s “thinking about getting on … the weight loss shots, at least for like a month or two,” though Katelynn maintained her intention to cook and eat healthy meals.

“We couldn’t drive for a long time [after the accident]. I just started being able to drive. It’s probably been a month now, but we were doing takeout for so long that it kind of just became a habit,” said Katelynn. “I also struggle to just do things in general, so it’s just easier for me to do takeout, but we can’t keep doing that forever, and I really want to start cooking again and cooking healthier meals.”
