Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick Reveal How They ‘Keep Things Exciting’ on 37th Anniversary

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are enjoying a playful 37th wedding anniversary.

On Thursday, Sept. 4, Bacon, 67, shared a video on Instagram showing himself and Sedgwick, 60, playing cornhole in a field in celebration of their anniversary.

The video, filmed from both Sedgwick and Bacon’s sides of the game, shows the two competing against each other until Sedgwick announced she won. At one point, one of Bacon’s throws accidentally knocks his phone camera off of its position.

“I think it’s better for both on the same side. I think it’s better for our marriage. I think it’s better for everything,” Bacon said as they began playing.

“That’s enough of that silliness! I won. I wanna be clear: I won by a lot. I won by a landslide, I won by a corn hole,” Sedgwick said at the end of the video, after she and Bacon danced in a circle while holding hands.

“People ask how we keep things exciting after so many years together… Gotta be open to trying new things! Happy anniversary, @kyrasedgwickofficial,” Bacon wrote in a caption.

Sedgwick and Bacon fell in love on the set of a 1988 TV film titled Lemon Sky, after Bacon invited Sedgwick out to dinner. The couple got engaged in December 1987, months after they began dating.

The actor duo, who share son Travis, 36, and daughter Sosie, 33, celebrated their anniversary last year by sharing a video of themselves singing a version of the Johnny Cash and June Carter song “Jackson” and shared a kiss. 

“36 years with my love @kyrasedgwickofficial,” Bacon wrote in a caption at that time. “Here’s to forever of relaxin’ with you.“

Bacon and Sedgwick most recently graced the big screen together in the movie The Best You Can, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York City in June.

The film, which features a romance between Bacon and Sedgwick’s characters, marked their first movie together in two decades. When Bacon spoke with PEOPLE at the premiere, he said, “To be able to take some of that time that we’ve had together and put it up on the screen is just really fun.”

Following The Best You Can, the couple are teaming up with their children for a film titled Family Movie that the entire family will star in, with Bacon and Sedgwick sharing directing duties.
