Eli Manning has enjoyed teaming up with Glen Powell on the new football comedy Chad Powers — but he’d rather be standing next to someone else.
“Glen’s awesome,” the retired NFL star tells PEOPLE of the Anyone But You star. “It’s been fun to work with him, and to do some photo shoots and different things, be on camera with him.”
“I prefer to be on camera or on a magazine cover with my brother Peyton, because standing next to Peyton, it makes me look a lot better,” he joked. “It makes me look like the good-looking guy. And next to Glen, it’s like the opposite. It’s like, ‘Oh, what’s wrong with Eli? He looks so weird now.’ And it’s like, no, Glen’s so good-looking, it hurts me.”
Eli says Powell has been “committed” to taking on the title character in the Hulu series, which follows a disgraced college quarterback who disguises himself as “Chad Powers” to revive his career.

“I’m excited for it to come out,” he adds of the show, which is produced by the Manning brothers. “I think it’s going to be really good.”
Chad Powers, which hits the streaming service on Sept. 30, isn’t the only new project Eli has been busy with. He also stars in a new campaign for King’s Hawaiian, showing off a new look for the funny commercial.
Eli teamed up with the dinner roll brand to launch Football Season-ing, a blend to liven up sliders, dips, pasta salads and other staples.

The spot sees him wearing an argyle sweater vest and tie for a book club meeting, during which he encourages fellow members to celebrate “Slider Sunday.”
“Sundays are about traditions, and it’s about family and friends,” Eli told PEOPLE. “And when you bring family, friends and football together, you need great food.”
Eli said his favorite part of filming the video was getting to sport some facial hair.
“I think any opportunity to wear a mustache,” he said. “I prefer a mustache in any possibility. I can’t grow one for real, so always so jealous and envious of people with mustaches.”
