Paris Jackson is distancing herself from the upcoming biopic about her late father Michael Jackson.

The star, 27, posted a series of videos on her Instagram Stories Tuesday, Sept. 2, speaking out on Michael, the movie that is produced by co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate John Branca and John McClain and stars Paris’ cousin Jaafar Jackson, 29, as the pop star.

Paris, who is one of Michael’s three kids, wrote in one post that she “read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it i moved on with my life. not my monkeys not my circus. god bless and god speed.”

She said in one video that she is “clarifying that I wasn’t involved at all” after Colman Domingo, when asked, spoke about her and the project as he and Paris were both among the attendees at the amfAR gala in Venice on Aug. 31. (Colman hosted the event, which raised over $3.4 million for HIV/AIDS research and awareness.)

“We’ve chatted briefly,” said Domingo, 55, who portrays Paris’ grandfather Joe Jackson in the film. “But her brother [Prince] is very much a fan of the film. He’s also a producer on the film as well. But Paris has been nothing but lovely and warm.”

In her videos, Paris said she has only met Domingo twice, “once at a birthday party and once at the amfAR thing the other night; both were, like, hella brief interactions.”

She went on to say she takes issue with Hollywood biopics about celebrities and musicians that tend to gloss over their subjects’ complexities.

“They’re gonna make whatever they’re gonna make. The big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it,” Paris said of the Michael movie. “The film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in a fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it.”

“The thing about these biopics is it’s Hollywood. It’s fantasy land — it’s not real,” said Paris. “But it’s sold to you as real, and a lot of sugar-coated… the narrative is being controlled. There’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. I don’t really like dishonesty.”

She added that fans will probably “like” the movie “so just go watch it, go enjoy it, do whatever — leave me out of it.”

Reps for Lionsgate, the studio behind Michael, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Also in one of her Instagram Stories uploads, Paris responded to those claiming she “hates” her dad, who died in 2009 at age 50.

“Something quite a lot of people are saying is, ‘She hates her dad. She resents him. She wants nothing to do with him,’ because I’m not, like, calling the shots on set being a big-shot producer of a movie that’s filled with just inaccuracies,” she said. “That’s not my truth. That’s not where I’m coming from. I just prefer honesty over sales and monetary gain. That’s it. I kinda just don’t want anything to do with that.”

After several postponements, Michael is set to hit theaters April 24, 2026. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film, according to a press release, paints a “riveting portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man.”

Michael “explores the global superstar’s journey to become known to the world as the King of Pop, presenting an intimate look at the life and enduring legacy of one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known,” per the synopsis.
