NEED TO KNOW

  • A TikToker believes Sabrina Carpenter’s new song “House Tour” is inspired by a 2005 Chips Ahoy! commercial
  • They argue that the commercial aligns with the song and Carpenter’s current ’80s sound and aesthetic
  • Carpenter’s fans are now wondering if a collab with Chips Ahoy is on the horizon

One TikToker suspects Sabrina Carpenter‘s new song “House Tour” may have been inspired by a classic snack brand.

On Monday, Sept. 1, the TikToker b_tchspork shared their theory that the second-to-last track of the 26-year-old singer’s new album Man’s Best Friend may be a nod to a 2005 Chips Ahoy! commercial.

In the claymation-style advertisement, a personified chocolate chip cookie and a blonde woman get cozy in an ‘80s-designed penthouse suite. The cookie then proceeds to dance and sing Rod Stewart’s 1978 rock classic “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” And just when the woman and the cookie are about to share a kiss, a hand reaches in from above and snatches the cookie from the scene.

The claymation woman, who is wearing a black dress and strappy shoes, resembles the “Espresso” singer’s latest signature aesthetic, which embraces the dance-inducing beats of the ‘80s along with the teased hair and fringed outfits of the era.

The TikToker also pointed to the “House Tour” lyrics, which reference the popular cookie brand by name. “The couch is really comfy, comfy / Got some Chips Ahoy if you’re hungry, hungry (Oh),” Carpenter sings. “You don’t need to love me, love me, love / I’m just so proud of my design.”

“For some reason, when ‘House Tour’ the song started, I’m picturing the penthouse from the Chips Ahoy! cookie commercial in my mind,” they continued. The social media user also shared images of the woman in the commercial to illustrate their point.

“And you’re not going to tell me that’s not Sabrina Carpenter sitting on that couch getting seduced by that cookie?” they added.

The TikToker, along with many users in the comment section, is demanding answers to whether or not Carpenter was inspired by the commercial, or if she is potentially teasing a future partnership with the brand.

PEOPLE has reached to Chips Ahoy! for comment on a possible connection between Carpenter and the brand, but did not receive an immediate response.

This isn’t the first time imagery from Man’s Best Friend has led to questions from the singer’s fans. When the star first announced the album release date in June, along with its title and cover art, some fans had critiques

On the cover art — released on June 11 after the project’s lead single “Manchild” dropped on June 5 — Carpenter is on her knees in a black dress with her hair being pulled by someone out of frame.

That same month, Carpenter responded to one X user who reposted the album’s cover from the artist and wrote, “Does she have a personality outside of sex?”

Carpenter responded, “Girl yes and it is goooooood.”
