How Travis Kelce ‘Thought’ He’d Propose Compared to Taylor Swift Engagement

Travis Kelce could have had a totally different love story with Taylor Swift! 

The 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed that he once pictured his engagement entirely differently from the garden proposal he landed on with Swift. 

“I once thought I would do it on water,” Travis shared on the Sept. 3 episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. 

However, he shared the importance of deciding on an appropriate way to propose based on your significant other. 

“Man, you’ve gotta know your gal. You’ve gotta know your gal or your significant other. You’ve gotta know them,” Travis shared when asked for advice on how best to pop the question. “You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way.”

He added, “I would just say know your partner, know who you’re doing it for and do it for the right reasons and everything else will be beautiful.”

Travis and the “So High School” singer announced their engagement on Aug. 26, sharing photos of the milestone moment on Instagram, writing, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨”

Speaking about the engagement on New Heights, Travis said, “I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on. It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.” 

Of calling Swift his fiancée,” Travis added, “I still get giddy, exciting times.” 

And while he didn’t ask Swift to marry him on the water in the end, Travis previously posted pics alongside his love with the pair of them wearing “Captain” and “First Mate” hats and all-white ensembles.

“Had some adventures this offseason, kept it 💯,” he wrote on Instagram in July alongside the snap which was included in a carousel of imahes.

As for the next steps, Travis shared on the podcast that he’s preparing for wedding planning with Swift. 

“I cannot wait to hear more of the planning and everything that will take place,” Travis’ older brother, Jason, teased him on New Heights. “Travis, you’re about to embark on the wedding planning phase of a relationship.”

“Oh, it’s gonna go crazy,” Travis replied. “That is the next step, yeah, I’ve heard about that.”
