Cardi B Says Her ‘Forehead Is Raw’ After Assault Trial Due to Constant Wig Changes

Cardi B is dealing with beauty pains now that her assault trial has come to a close.

Following the conclusion of her trial on Tuesday, Sept. 2, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper, 32, spoke with reporters and thanked the press for being respectful to her during the proceedings. During her closing comments, Cardi was asked by a reporter in Spanish about the many wigs that she sported in the courtroom.

“I’m telling you guys, when I say that my forehead is raw from changing all these wigs,” Cardi said in response, making reporters laugh. “Raw, raw, raw, raw.”

The rapper was in court over the past week to clear her name after Emani Ellis, a security guard, attempted to sue her for $24 million. Ellis alleged that Cardi assaulted her and cut her cheek with a three-inch fingernail as the rapper was leaving an obstetrician’s office in 2018. The security guard also alleged that Cardi spat on her during the exchange.

Cardi was pregnant with her and Offset’s 7-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, but her pregnancy was not public at the time of the alleged assault.

On Sept. 2, Cardi wore a dark brown wig parted down the middle to court. The hair was styled into subtle waves and gathered into a loose bun that sat atop her head. Though Cardi’s hairstyle was conservative, the “Up” rapper went bold with a $10,000 polka-dot suit by Valentino, which included a blazer accessorized with an oversize satin bow, a matching ruffled blouse and trousers.

On Wednesday, Aug. 27, Cardi traded the dark brown hair for jet black strands. The wig was styled into a swooping, deep side part and bouncy curls that fell past her shoulders.

The rapper also wore a bright white jacket and trouser set by Jacquemus, which contrasted with her inky black strands.

Cardi also sported platinum blonde hair in court on Tuesday, Aug. 26. The star styled the wig into another swooping side part and added voluminous, Old Hollywood-inspired curls. The bold hair color added a touch of brightness to her Giambattista Valli look for court that day.

During her Aug. 26 court date, she was questioned about her hair. “Yesterday, you had black hair, short hair. Today it’s blonde and long,” the plaintiff’s lawyer, Ron Rosen, said. “Which one is your real hair, or are they both real?”

“They’re wigs,” Cardi replied, letting out a brief laugh before answering.

The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzár, was later cleared of the assault charges and issued a warning to those who might want to profit from her stardom.

“I work all day and I work hard for my money, for my kids, for the people that I take care of,” Cardi said during the Sept. 2 press conference. “So don’t you ever think that you’re going to sue me, and I’m just going to settle.”
