Cardi B is not mincing words when it comes to the status of her relationship with estranged husband Offset.
The Grammy-winning rapper, 32, was asked about Offset, 33, in her new Billboard cover story, and whether she “envision[ed] a lasting friendship with him” after their 2024 split.
“I tried,” she responded. “Next question.”
Cardi married the Migos rapper in 2017 before filing for divorce three years later. The pair eventually reconciled, until she filed for divorce again in July 2024.
They are parents to daughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 1, and son Wave, who will turn 4 on Sept. 4.
Elsewhere in her interview, Cardi described the current chapter of her life as “confusing,” saying it “felt like a reset,” as she took a long break and is now about to head back out on tour.

“That’s a reset there. Then, it’s a reset on my personal life. The last time I was on the road, I had one kid,” she said. “Now I have three kids. I was married, now I’m getting a divorce. I’m dating. It’s a reset on everything.”
Since breaking up, the musicians have been public in their frustrations with one another; on X Spaces in June, Cardi gave fans insight into just how much of a toll their marriage had taken on her.
“I don’t think people understand how tired I was. How tired, how mentally drained I was,” she said. “Drained, drained, drained. Couldn’t eat. I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind…. And I gave it chances after chances after chances after chances after chances after chances.”
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper said that if she was “still there,” seemingly referring to her marriage, “I was going to end up going to jail, ‘cause I was going to end up killing them. Seriously, with my own bare hands. ‘Cause it was just getting so… it was just getting too much.”

Cardi also said that their divorce was caused by “more than” infidelity, and contributing factors included “the constant lies, the gaslighting… It was really messing up with my head.”
In August, Offset released his new album Kiari, which featured the closing track “Move On.”
In an interview with the Associated Press, the rapper confirmed that the song — which features lyrics like “You f—ed around with the wrong dude / Hope your next n—- be great” — is about the end of his marriage.
“It’s about moving on, like, peacefully. That’s what the message is supposed to be,” he said. “It’s all love and peace. I just ended the album with that, just to end that chapter because it’s time to move on — it’s over and done with. It was great while it lasted. That shouldn’t be the topic for either one of us no more. It’s a book that’s closed.”

Cardi has since moved with NFL star Stefon Diggs, 31, though she admitted that dating publicly again after her high-profile divorce was “very tough.”
“It’s tough hiding. It’s tough dating in your 30s, too, but I like him. I love him, today,” she told Billboard with a laugh. “I was always scared of dating people [because] I’ve always been in a long relationship since I was like 21.”
The cover story was released just one day after the star was found not liable for assault and battery against former security guard Emani Ellis.
She’d been sued for $24 million by Ellis, who claimed the star assaulted her outside a Beverly Hills medical office in 2018.
