Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise highlighted the power of love.

In the Sept. 2 finale of the hit dating series, viewers saw eliminated beachgoers return to determine who was going to make it to the end for a chance to win $500,000.

With Alexe Godin and Andrew Spencer safe from winning the last challenge, the cast voted for Spencer Conley and Jess Edwards to stay after bombshell rumors that Kat Izzo had betrayed Dale Moss.

The top two couples were then faced with one “final test,” when host Jesse Palmer told them they could choose to keep half the money all for themselves, or give it up for love.

Last week, Jess grappled with the fast pace of her relationship with Spencer, hesitating to tell him that she was in love.

“I am so nervous because there are obviously doubts,” she admitted ahead of the big decision. “I love Spencer, but the fact that Spencer has been engaged before and it didn’t work out, it’s giving me more anxiety, because $250,000 is life changing.”

Meanwhile, Spencer worried that he has never “been someone’s first choice,” but he knew that Jess was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

“If Jess chose money over us, then everything I know is a lie,” he said. “I don’t think I’d ever recover from it. I don’t know if I’d ever be able to trust someone ever in real life.”

Ultimately, Jess walked into the suite to see Spencer waiting there for her. “So you chose love?” she asked, to which he replied, “I chose love.”

Jesse then revealed that they “both passed” the test, and the cash prize wasn’t entirely off the table. He presented them with a tray of three envelopes to pick from, and they settled on the left (because they’re both left handed), which contained $190,000.

The surprises didn’t end there, though. Spencer said he had a few more words for Jess — and a ring.

“As you know, it’s been years since I loved someone, and I really was starting to lose hope that that was in the cards for me,” he gushed. “That was until the moment that I met you.”

“Every room that you walk into is instantly brighter,” he added. “You don’t know a stranger. You’re welcoming to everyone, and you always lead with honesty and what’s right, even when it’s something that’s not easy to do.”

He proceeded to get down on one knee: “I am so in love with you, and you let me know the same. And from day one, I knew it was you. And Jessica Taylor Edwards, would you make me the happiest man on the face of the world, and would you marry me?”

“Yes,” Jess shouted before declaring, “Everything felt perfect.”

As of Sept. 2, the couple is still going strong and told PEOPLE that they plan to move in together in January.

Alexe and Andrew

After just one day of knowing each other, Alexe and Andrew had a strong connection. However, he was unsure if she would choose love given her past financial struggles and wanting to use the money to pay off her student loans.

“Our love is strong, but at the same time, I don’t have the stress of money, and I know Alexe does,” he confessed. “You’re never gonna come across $250,000 like this. I think that could trump our love right now.”

“Her happiness is the most important thing to me right now, and whether that’s with me or something that helps her change her life, I’m okay with it,” Andrew added.

While Alexe also acknowledged the impact that money could have on her, she put her feelings for Andrew first.

“Although making money would solve a lot of my life problems, the greatest gift is to leave with my boy, Andrew,” she said, noting that it “breaks my heart” that he was waiting for her with the fear that he wouldn’t be chosen.

“If you would have told me that I would have picked a guy that I just met a few weeks ago over a quarter of a million dollars, I would have said, ‘You’re nuts,’” she laughed. “When I’m with you, my feelings grow stronger every day.”

Andrew asked Alexe to be his girlfriend and she said yes, before asking him when she could move to Chicago to be with him. “Let me wipe my tears,” he laughed.

When they learned that they still would be able to leave with some money, Andrew and Alexe grew even more ecstatic. She then picked a random envelope, discovering that it had $125,000 in it.

“This is my happy ending,” Alexe declared.

At the end of the finale episode, it was revealed that the pair have met each other’s families and Alexe still plans on moving to Chicago to live with Andrew. They also agreed to use the money they won to pay off Alexe’s student loan debt as “they continue to ‘level up.'”

Kat and Dale

When the final rose ceremony left Kat and Dale in the top three, they were caught off guard to see some of their previous castmates would be deciding their fate. After a turbulent few weeks, things only became more tense when Sean McLaughlin and Allyshia Gupta claimed to have information that could destroy the relationship.

“Kat, you denied that we were even friends,” Sean announced to the group, referring to a conversation they had before he was sent home earlier this season. “Unfortunately, we have mutual friends with your ex, so I gave him a call. He told me some things that were really enlightening, that I think the jury needs to hear.”

“Kat’s plan was never to find love,” he continued. “She actually stashed a laptop and started texting him love letters. You said that this was going to be something for your career, and you were here to stir up drama. So as a group, I feel like you guys deserve that information, and I have the receipts.”

Comforting a tearful Kat, Dale slammed Sean for tearing down “a great woman because of ego.”

“I would never do that on my worst day to a human being, no matter how bad or obvious,” he said.

They both left to talk in private, and Kat explained that she was never sending her ex “love letters” while in Paradise. “He completely twisted everything,” she said. “And I’m not in the place to even defend myself right now, because this is insane, and I’m not. I’m done having my business out there.”

“Well, where is it coming from? What he said,” Dale pushed. “I was just confused if all of this was truthful, or if what we have built is real.”

Kat shared that she was “still dating around” before the show kicked off and kept in contact with her ex “because I didn’t think I was gonna meet anybody here.” She then added, “But was I texting him on here? No, I don’t have my phone.”

When they were sent home the next day, they expressed their gratitude for finding each other.

“This whole experience has been anything but easy, but it has been everything I could ever hope for and more,” Kat told Dale. “What I was expecting coming in here was not to find someone that makes me laugh, makes me cry, makes me feel protected and loved.”

“You’ve got to step outside the box and take some chances, and this one definitely paid off,” Dale concluded.

Since the show ended, Kat and Dale are still together and “have been exploring the U.S.,” according to an update in the finale. They also “plan on moving closer and building a future together.”
