Amanda Kloots is remembering her late husband, Nick Cordero.
Kloots, 43, and Cordero married in 2017 and welcomed their son Elvis, 6, in 2019 before the actor’s death in July 2020 at age 41 from COVID-related complications. On Wednesday, Sept. 3, which would have been the couple’s eighth wedding anniversary, the former Broadway dancer recalled the pair’s “perfect” wedding in a touching tribute on Instagram.
Alongside several photos from the ceremony, Kloots wrote, “Today would have been our 8th wedding anniversary. Our wedding was perfect — one of the best days of my life.”
The fitness instructor went on to explain that after Cordero’s death, she “finished one of his songs in honor of our 3rd anniversary.” The late actor had begun writing the song, called “Not Far Away,” about his dad, Kloots said in the caption.

“He had written it about losing his father, and I completed it thinking about losing him. It’s the only song we ever sang together, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart,” she wrote.
“I’ve always believed in celebrating life’s special days — even when they’re shared with the ones we’ve lost,” Kloots concluded before quoting a lyric from their song: “Nick, ‘your smile remains every day.’ ❤️.”
The Talk alum received lots of words of support on the post, including some kind ones from boyfriend Justin Gimelstob. “Beautiful,” he wrote in a comment. “Here for good days, the tough ones and all in between. Love u.”
Kloots and Cordero met while working on 2014 musical Bullets Over Broadway, which earned the latter a Tony nomination. Their relationship was strictly platonic at first, as Kloots, a dancer for the show, was married at the time.

“We were friends first and then fell in love,” the former Talk co-host later wrote on Instagram. After years of knowing each other, the actor and dancer married on Sept. 3, 2017, at The Skylark, a cocktail lounge in Midtown, Manhattan.
“We really wanted a nighttime classic NYC wedding,” Kloots later told Brides of their nuptials. “We both have worked on Broadway,” she added, “so being just south of Times Square, 30 floors up, right in the middle of the skyscrapers, seemed so perfect!”

At the event, the former tennis pro — he retired from the sport in 2007 — told PEOPLE that he first met Kloots at a Formula 1 race in Las Vegas, but the pair they didn’t go on their first date around a year and a half later.
“We had some mutual friends, and I noticed that she likes playing tennis, and we played a little tennis just as friends. And then we’re both involved in other relationships, and then the timing worked out,” Gimelstob said at the time. “And I will say, I persisted.”
“It kind of happened very naturally, which is great,” added Kloots, who the former athlete described as an “incredibly special person.”
