On the season 10 finale of Bachelor in Paradise, Jess left Costa Rica with a dazzling sparkler by Neil Lane on her ring finger, and PEOPLE has the details — including the carat count — from the celebrity jewelry designer himself.

Lane, who, alongside his label Neil Lane Couture, has collaborated with the Bachelor franchise for 20 years, designed Jess’ new Art Deco-inspired ring with nearly 20 diamonds, the center emerald-cut diamond alone boasting three stunning stones.

He also shared that the star diamond was enhanced by 16 brilliant cut diamonds that created a hidden halo, bringing the total value to over two carats. Holding the diamonds is a platinum band featuring an engraving of Lane’s signature, a detail that is found on all of his rings.

Fans got to watch Jess and Spencer’s relationship evolve through a rollercoaster of emotions leading up to the Sept. 2 finale. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the two reflected on how they knew they were ready to take the next step.

“We had had a really long conversation the night before, and I got the chance to speak with my family, which was a huge weight lifted off my shoulder,” Jess, a season 28 Bachelor contestant, shared. “They were kind of like, ‘If this is where your heart is leading you, we say go for it. We say, take the leap.’ And that was the cherry on top. That’s what I needed to hear.”

Jess also opened up about the concerns she shared with Spencer, who was on season 21 of The Bachelorette, about the speed of their relationship, which she also considered a testament to their bond. “I think that with a new relationship and taking a leap like that, you obviously have all these things from your past that are still trying to haunt you, and you have to ignore it and you have to just look at what’s in front of you,” she explained.

On the topic of wedding planning, the couple has “talked about” what their ceremony might look like — but for now, they aren’t putting any “super strict timelines on things.”

“We feel like this time next year we want to start planning a wedding, then so be it. If we feel like we want to start planning it earlier, then that’s what we’ll do,” Jess shared, with Spencer adding that the two have yet to get to know each other on their own time.

“We haven’t even been on a date,”  he quipped. “I would love to be able to go on a morning walk or go on a date, go to a movie. So I think we’re just really focused on whatever’s next and right now that’s next up for us, and then we’ll take it from there.”
