Christine Brown had a brush with fate when she was a teenager, unknowingly attending a wedding with the man who would later become her husband nearly four decades later.
The Sister Wives star opened up about the chance meeting between her and David Woolley in her recently released memoir, Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom.
Brown recalled attending a wedding at Colonia LeBarón, a property in Chihuahua, Mexico, where Brown’s maternal grandfather, Floren LeBaron, founded a polygamist group known as the Church of the Firstborn of the Fulness of Times when she was just 14.
“David—my future husband—was at that wedding, too, but I don’t remember meeting him,” she wrote.

Fast-forward nearly 40 years, when Brown met Woolley again while online dating following her split from Kody Brown.
Brown noted that she began to realize that her and Woolley’s “lives are so intertwined.”
“His parents knew my grandpa. We both have memories of the colony in Mexico, where my mom’s mom lived for a short time,” she wrote. “We definitely went to the same wedding when I was fourteen: my mom’s sister married David’s best friend.”
Brown then revealed that her paternal grandfather, Rulon C. Allred, the founder of the Mormon offshoot group the Apostolic United Brethren, “taught David’s dad how to deliver babies as he delivered two of David’s sisters.”
“When David was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, David’s dad knew to loop in and unhook it before the baby is born because that’s what my grandpa taught him to do, so some of Grandpa’s love and knowledge was part of my husband’s birth,” she wrote.
“I don’t know that I believe in signs, but I do believe in connections and love,” she added.

Brown dedicated her new book to Woolley.
“For David, the love of my life,” she wrote in the dedication page. “Gosh!! I love our life together so much.”
“You’ve helped me become stronger and recognize my value, and you have brought so much fun and laughter into our lives while helping me find a peaceful calm that I didn’t know existed,” she added of her husband.
Brown and Woolley announced their engagement in April 2023, and the pair married in October of that year.
They have shared their love story on Sister Wives over the last few years.
