While appearing on the Modern Family star’s podcast, Dinner’s on Me, where he has candid conversations with celebrities over dinner, The Great British Baking Show judge revealed that she has never seen many shows, including the hit series Ferguson starred in.

Ferguson asked if Leith felt as though she had “big shoes to fill” when she replaced longtime judge Mary Berry in 2017, to which she admitted to never having seen the show beforehand.

“Do you know, I didn’t, simply because I had never watched Bake Off,” she confessed. “I hadn’t. I watched really very little telly anyway.”

This prompted the actor to ask if she knew he was on Modern Family, to which she replied a quick, “No.” Ferguson gasped and then added, “I love that! Do you know any of the people [who] come on the show? You’re like, ‘I don’t know. They’re famous in America?”

Leith then confessed that she doesn’t know anyone who comes on the light-hearted baking competition series. “It’s too embarrassing,” she said. “I have to have a little crib sheet and mug you all up before.”

Ferguson then pretends he’s Leith, looking at a call sheet, and saying, “I don’t know what Modern Family is,” and she doubles down, adding, “Never heard of it.”

She goes on to say, in her defense, that she doesn’t “watch very much British television, never mind American.”

Ferguson starred as Mitchell Pritchett on the hit series for 11 seasons, from 2009 to 2020. In August, he competed on a special “Celebrity Summer” edition of The Great American Baking Show. Other stars included Yara Shahidi, June Diane Raphael and Andrew Rannells, with Leith and Paul Hollywood as judges and Zach Cherry and Casey Wilson as co-hosts.

Ferguson, who is an avid baker himself, said appearing on the show was “a baker’s dream.”

“It was just the best time. I honestly felt like I was in a dream,” he gushed. “It’s also for someone like me who loves to be in the kitchen, it’s such a cook’s dream, or baker’s dream, because you have everything you could possibly want [to use].”

To this, Leith laughed and noted, “Including somebody else to wash up.”
