Kirk Herbstreit stunned after he unknowingly jinxes Bill Belichick, UNC
Before Kirk Herbstreit could even finish his sentence, the TCU Horned Frogs proved what he was about to say right in Monday’s rout of the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The season opener between TCU and UNC was nationally televised on ESPN as the Bill Belichick era began in Chapel Hill, but things quickly went off the rails.
A promising start by the Tar Heels gave way to the Horned Frogs running up the score during their eventual 48-14 win.

Herbstreit was talking about an early third-quarter drive by TCU being a big moment for North Carolina if they could get a stop.
“It’s a big drive for the North Carolina defense,” he said right before Kevorian Barnes ran 75 yards for a touchdown to extend TCU’s lead to 27-7 following the extra point.
“As I finished a sentence about how big of a drive this is,” Herbstreit then added at the end of the clip.
It was a bit of an ironic moment in a game where UNC struggled to contain the Horned Frogs after the Tar Heels opened the game with a 10-play, 80-yard drive that was capped by an eight-yard touchdown run by North Carolina’s Caleb Hood.

But after that, it was all TCU as they scored 20 unanswered points in the first half alone before stretching their lead to 41-7 midway through the third quarter before North Carolina finally mustered their second touchdown of the game.
Monday’s game drew plenty of eyeballs and dignitaries to Chapel Hill to see Belichick’s first career game as a college football coach.
Among them were Michael Jordan, Lawrence Taylor, Roy Williams, Mia Hamm and a number of others.
After Monday’s game against TCU, the Tar Heels will face Charlotte and then Richmond before their schedule gets more challenging with games against UCF, Clemson and California after that.
