Howard Stern extends summer break, will not be returning to SiriusXM show today: report

Howard Stern will allegedly not be returning to his SiriusXM show this Tuesday — despite earlier saying he would after his summer break.

Stern, 71, allegedly broke the news to his 95 employees in an unexpected email on Labor Day evening, according to the Daily Mail.

Sources told the outlet that the radio host carefully crafted the “out of the blue” email to be reassuring and prevent panic.

Stern — whose $500M, five-year contract with SiriusXM expires at the end of this year — allegedly decided to miss Tuesday’s show, over “frustrations over the new contract,” sources said.

Last month, The Post exclusively reported SiriusXM would not be renewing his contract.

The famed shock jock is also believed to be grappling with family health issues, most notably the reported decline of his mother, Ray Schiffman Stern, who turns 98 in October, the Daily Mail reported.

Stern admitted on his show back in February 2022 that his mother’s health issues had caused him much distress.

“It rips my heart out. I don’t want my mom to be uncomfortable. I just want to fix her,” he said.

“I’m so tired and exhausted. Think of five other words for exhausted and tired and that’s what I am. I’m so depressed. I mentioned this on the air yesterday that my mom’s not doing well. She’s just in a lot of pain, you know? Physical pain.”

The Post has reached out to Stern’s reps and SiriusXM for comment.

The host promised to return to his regular schedule on Sept. 2, with no indication of when he would be leaving.

“We’ll be back on the air live. I’ve been refueling, so to speak,” Stern told his listeners.

The second iteration of Stern’s legendary show began in 2006 and was renewed by SiriusXM in 2020.

Stern’s audience has fallen from 20 million at its height to 125,000 daily listeners now.

Critics have also claimed the Long Island radio visionary has been “woke” since endorsing Hillary Clinton’s run against former pal President Donald Trump in 2015.
