HGTV star Tiffany Brooks says she’s been “given another chance at life” after having a double-organ transplant, which has left her “incredibly grateful.”
“I am blessed to share that I’ve been given another chance at life with a very special kidney and pancreas donor,” the Design Star alum, 46, shared in an Instagram post on Sept. 2. “I’m overcome with emotion for this amazing gift and am incredibly grateful for the gracious transplant team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.”

Although the HGTV Dream Home host did not disclose why she needed the transplant, she previously shared that she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 6, which caused her kidneys to shut down when she was pregnant with her son in 2003, as she wrote in a blog post.
Following the birth of her son, Brooks underwent dialysis three times a week. She ended up having a kidney transplant in 2004, and a year later a pancreas transplant. At the time, she wrote, “For the past 8 years I have not suffered from any signs of rejection from either organ.”
Brooks later struggled with weight gain, she shared in an Instagram post in 2023: “That’s me 70lbs ago, in 2016. I was happy, beautiful, kicking ass in my career, but not healthy. So I made water a priority, ate 5 healthy meals/mini meals a day vs. Being on b—hit once a day. Now I’m more confident, collected, and feel like I can do anything, look younger than I did 10 years ago, and love shopping for clothes!”
Following her most recent surgery, Brooks explained, “I am now at home recovering with my family as I take this time to heal.” Her post prompted a flurry of supportive comments from fans like Ty Pennington, who wrote, “This is amazing news! 🙌❤️.”
Brooks, who designed LeBron James’ kitchen, also received warm wishes from the NBA star’s personal chef, Dena Marino, who chimed in to write, “🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️.”
