8 Students, 1 Adult Injured in Missouri Bus Crash

Nine people, including eight children, were injured when a bus they were riding in overturned in Missouri last week, authorities said.
The incident occurred a half mile from Faucett, Mo. around 3:35 p.m. local time on Friday, Aug. 29, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The injured children range in age from 12 to 16 years old, per the report.
Most are from Kansas and one is from Lee’s Summit, Mo. Of those students, two were seriously hurt while the rest escaped with minor injuries.
A 44-year-old woman aboard the bus was also moderately injured.
Video of the crash scene published by ABC affiliate KMBC shows the overturned bus bearing the name of Olivet Baptist Church’s Shawnee Mission Christian School.
The station reported the vehicle had been shuttling student athletes to northern Missouri for sporting events.
The bus, driven by a 61-year-old man, was traveling northbound on an interstate when the front passenger side tire blew out, according to highway patrol.
It began to skid before the back passenger side tire also burst. The vehicle veered off the side of the road, struck a ditch, and then overturned onto the driver’s side.

A church spokesperson wasn’t immediately available to provide a statement about the crash.
