“I was talking to Scott Swift and Travis went to ask him for permission,” the NFL star’s father, Ed Kelce, revealed on Tuesday’s episode of “The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma.”
“And this was probably a month ago.”
The dad of two shared that the “Bad Blood” singer’s father urged the Kansas City Chiefs tight end to get it “done.”
“Scott said, ‘Oh come on, when are you gonna get this done?’” Ed, 74, recalled of their conversation.
“Travis had these plans to do it […] before he took off for Brazil, and was gonna make a big production out of it some place. But, you know, [he] wanted to make it special,” Ed revealed.
“And I told the same thing Scott told him, ‘Asking her is what’s going to make it special. Not where you do it, you know?’ I mean, you do it on the side of the road … And Scott adds on, ‘Just get it done. Don’t worry about any special date. Just you’re ready. You got the ring. Go do it.’”
Weeks after the proposal, which Page Six exclusively revealed took place at Travis’s Leawood, Kan., estate, the couple shared their exciting news with the public.
On Tuesday, the tight end and the Grammy winner, both 35, took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos from the moment Travis got down on one knee.
In one of the photos, Taylor showed off her stunning old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting, which was designed by her fiancé and Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned the post.

The couple, who went public with their romance in September 2023, were congratulated by several stars.
Travis’ teammate Patrick Mahomes and the quarterback’s wife, Brittany, took to their Instagram Stories to send well wishes to the couple.
“Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two cry 🤍,” the mom of three, 29, wrote.
