Influencer’s pregnant girlfriend hid baby in closet before killing intruder
A pregnant new mom hid her baby in a closet before shooting dead an intruder, according to her influencer boyfriend — who posted about it while the body was still inside their home.
Custom car creator Corey Jones, 44, said he believed the burglar targeted his house in suburban Chicago late Aug. 15 because of the flashy lifestyle he shares with his more than a million subscribers on his YouTube channel, “CJ on 32s.”

His pregnant girlfriend, Liv, was home alone with their baby daughter when she heard someone breaking in, he said.
The mom grabbed a gun and then took her baby to hide in a closet on the second floor — shooting the stranger in the head when he came into the room, according to Jones and cops.

“Liv know what happened and what she had to do to protect hers,” Jones said later — saying it was the first time his girlfriend had ever fired a gun. “They broke in my crib and, you know, there’s consequences behind actions, man. That’s all I’m gonna say.”
The dead intruder was identified as Shelby Hurd, 36, who had previous convictions for burglary in 2022 and 2023 and was released on parole last February, according to local outlet Shaw Local.
“The suspect was not known to the victim,” Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English said. “The suspect was wearing gloves and in possession of a screwdriver at the time of the incident.”

Jones had been working at his nearby shop at the time — then rushed home and went online while Hurd’s corpse was still in his house.
“Yes, this is my house. Y’all know what yellow tape mean. Yes, it’s a body in my house. The coroner ain’t came here yet,” he said in the short video.
Jones also told his followers he was likely targeted for his lifestyle of luxury cars and flashy jewelry.
“I know I’m a target, but it’s just part of the lifestyle. It’s like, what am I supposed to do, not live because I’m a target?” he said in his first YouTube video following the incident, ripping those accusing him of putting his loved ones at risk by flaunting his wealth.
“People say the dumbest s–t. The only people who think I’m flexing is the people that wish they had the s–t I have. I ain’t flexing,” he said.
“I’m not going to stop and give up everything I worked for and go into f–king hiding,” he said.
English, the Joliet sergeant, confirmed that “the evidence found at scene indicates that Hurd was at the home to commit a burglary.”
“What his motive was beyond that and why he chose this residence is still under investigation,” he said.
