Angry fan threatens to murder Dustin May’s dog after Red Sox loss
There is apparently no limit to how low angry fans — or bettors — will stoop.
Dustin May’s wife, Amelia, shared an Instagram Story which featured a picture of a dog and a message from the account DustinMayWildie that read, “I’ll cook this dog for dinner.”

The Big Lead reported that the message came after May allowed five runs in an Aug. 24 loss to the Yankees on Sunday night.
The Red Sox acquired May from Dodgers at the trade deadline and he is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA in four starts with Boston.
“I definitely try to ride the highs,” May told MassLive earlier this month after throwing six shutout innings against the Astros.
“I’ve had a lot of lows this year. So whenever I do have the good moments, I try to let my brain know that, ‘Hey, you got it. It’s still in here, for sure.’”
Red Sox players are no stranger to online threats this season by faceless cowards on social media.
Now-injured reliever Liam Hendriks vented after he and his wife received death threats after a poor performance against the Mets.
Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito confronted MLB commissioner Rob Manfred about the gambling in the sports, believing that is the main motivation for fans to threaten players.
“I asked him about something that has been on my mind this year that’s been a little worrisome for me with the rise of sports betting — the access that exists now with social media and everything,” Giolito told the “Baseball Isn’t Boring” podcast.
“The threats when a player doesn’t perform well — threats to their family, threats to their life — it’s getting very tiring. I worry for guys that are maybe new to the league and aren’t ready for something like that.”
Dustin and Millie have been married since December 2022.
The couple dealt with a near-tragedy last year when Dustin got a piece of lettuce stuck in his throat while they were out to dinner, and it led to a significant tear in his esophagus.
May required emergency surgery that night and he was unable to return to the Dodgers last season.
“It was definitely a life-altering event,” May revealed in February.
“It was definitely very serious. It’s not a very common surgery. It was definitely an emergency. I probably wouldn’t have made it through the night if I didn’t have it.”
