Sebastian Korda vs. Cam Norrie odds, prediction and best bets

A couple of years back, it felt pretty safe to predict that Sebastian Korda would be competing with the likes of Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul for the top spot in American tennis.

Korda made impressive runs at the 2020 French Open and 2021 Wimbledon, and he captured his first title before turning 21.

In the years since, Korda’s career has been stop-start, with injuries and inconsistent play slowing his progress.

The Florida native is still a dangerous player on his day, but he’s just as likely to disappoint as to impress when he steps onto the court.

Despite his inconsistencies, Korda is a -200 favorite Monday over Cam Norrie in Round 1 of the U.S. Open.

That price seems even more dubious when you consider that Korda has played just one tournament since the French Open at the end of May.

The 25-year-old won his first three matches at Winston-Salem, but he was forced to withdraw before the semifinals due to illness.

For a player who often struggles with fitness, that is a bit concerning, especially since Norrie’s best asset is his never-ending motor.

Norrie has dropped his last three matches, all on hard courts, but he’s just a couple of months removed from a run to the Round of 16 at Wimbledon, and he won a pair of contests on the concrete in Washington to begin the U.S. Open series.

In terms of form, this contest is a wash, but the stylistic matchup favors Norrie, who should relish the opportunity to drag Korda into the deep end of the pool.
