The actor, 28, spoke candidly about his time on “Riverdale,” the CW show that launched his career.

Apa starred on the series, based on Archie Comics, as Archie Andrews for 7 seasons alongside Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom), Casey Cott (Kevin Keller) and Charles Melton (Reggie Mantle).

“There’s a lot of drama that comes on shows like that. Not to say in like a gossipy kind of way, but it’s just part of the environment, I guess — part of the deal,” Apa shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Apa was 19 and inexperienced sexually when he first began playing the high school jock.

“I was a virgin when I started on that show, too, for the first couple years,” he confessed. “I was a proud Christian boy. I was.”

He explained that things tend to happen between co-stars off-camera.

“You hook up with them, people hook up with each other,” Apa shared, noting that it’s not the greatest decision.

“You have sex with them and stuff, and then things start happening, and then things get a little complicated, and then you’re on set, and now you’re fighting with them,” he said about the dynamics on the set of “Riverdale.”

Several of Apa’s “Riverdale” co-stars had chemistry off-screen and ended up in long-term relationships.

Reinhart, 28, and Sprouse, 33, dated for roughly three years while filming. Mendes, 31, and Melton, 34, also dated on-and-off-again for about two years.

Apa wasn’t the only one dishing on the hookups that happen between co-stars.

Madelyn Cline, who stars alongside Apa in the newly released “The Map That Leads to You,” has firsthand experience with the topic, too.

“So it’s the same in Vancouver [where Riverdale was filmed]?” Cline joked with Apa when he noted that the co-stars “hook up with each other.”

The actress, 27, famously dated her “Outer Banks” co-star Chase Stokes, 32, during the beginning of the series, which is gearing up for a Season 5 release in 2026.

EW noted that Apa’s eyes widened and he took a deep breath before responding, “You sort of just have sex with them, and then you just sort of see what happens.”

“It’s just part of the deal,” he added.

Apa and Cline have previously spoken about their “easy” chemistry.

“We just hit it off immediately … I mean, nothing is serious with us,” Apa told People about their friendship in an interview published on August 20.

Cline previously explained, “He’s a Gemini. I’m a Sagittarius. We’re sister signs!”

In their film, “The Map That Leads to You,” Cline stars as Heather, an American on a European adventure with friends until she meets and falls in love with Apa’s character, Jack, who leads her on a journey that changes her life.

The romance, which is an adaptation of JP Monninger’s novel of the same name, is available to stream on Prime Video.
