Another year, another exciting, dramatic and unpredictable U.S. Open underway, with its championship games quickly approaching. The 145th annual tournament is taking place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens — where its been held every year since 1978.

The tournament officially kicked off on Sunday, Aug. 24, as singles and doubles matches began. This marks the first year coverage begins Sunday instead of its traditional Monday start, making it a 15 day event for the first time ever. The Round of 16 is set to start the following week on Sunday, Aug. 31.
Quarterfinal matches in the singles competition begin on Sept. 2, leading into the women’s semifinals on Sept. 4 and the men’s semifinals the following day. The women’s championship match is set for Saturday, Sept. 6, with the men’s final set for Sept. 7.
