Ghislaine Maxwell was celebrated at posh Clinton event years after sex crimes accusations emerged

Jeffrey Epstein’s convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell was an honored guest at an exclusive Clinton Global Initiative conference in September 2013 — more than five years after sexual abuse allegations first surfaced against her, according to a new report.

Maxwell — who is now serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted in December 2021 of sex trafficking and conspiracy charges — was recognized and applauded at the event as a “Commitment to Action” leader for founding the TerraMar Project a year earlier, a now-defunct nonprofit that focused on ocean sustainability, CNN reported.

Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and conspiracy — was honored at a 2013 Clinton Global Initiative event.

A source familiar with the Clinton Global Initiative told the network that, “It was rare, prestigious and an honor to be acknowledged the way Ghislaine was at the CGI annual meeting.”

Allegations swirled about Maxwell recruiting girls for Epstein as far back as 2009. She was served with a subpoena in suits brought by 24 underage girls against the pedophile financier as she was leaving the very same annual CGI event that year, Page Six reported at the time.

The extensive coverage in US and UK news outlets, including The Post, resulted in Clinton staffers barring her from all official events in 2011, according to CNN.

But despite this, Maxwell was one of a handful of people recommended for a free ticket to the 2013 conference, a distinction so uncommon a source told CNN it suggests her comped access was personally recommended by either Bill or Hillary Clinton themselves.

The singling out of the TerraMar project for recognition at the conference alongside big-name philanthropy organizations came at a time when Maxwell’s reputation had taken a hit due to her association with Epstein.

A spokesperson for former President Bill Clinton looked to distance the former first family from any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, as well as denying he green-lighted Maxwell’s free ticket to the conference.

“There were more than 600 comps approved at CGI in 2013. The decisions on those comps were made, as they have been  historically, at the staff level, which included the office of President Clinton,” the spokesperson said.

“This is about someone working on ocean conservation attending a charitable conference 12 years ago, along with thousands  of other people, and nothing more. As we have consistently said, the Clintons know nothing  about Jeffrey Epstein’s terrible crimes.”

Late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and former President Bill Clinton’s relationship dates back to the early 1990s. Flight logs show the former president took at least 16 flights on his private jet.

The TerraMar Project shut its doors in 2019 after Epstein was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges. After her own conviction in 2021, Maxwell’s lawyers cited her work on the nonprofit — and even claimed she “help[ed] launch the Clinton Global Initiative” in an attempt to wrangle a lighter sentence.

Maxwell’s connection to the Clintons far predates her invitation to CGI events, with archival photos of she and Epstein visiting the former president at the White House dating back to 1993.

Flight logs revealed Bill Clinton took at least 16 flights on Epstein’s private jet, both domestic and international, often with Maxwell and Epstein in tow, to far-flung destinations including London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Portugal, Morocco, Japan and more.

Maxwell was also close with Chelsea Clinton, taking a vacation with her in 2009 and attending her wedding in Rhinebeck, New York the following year.

A Clinton family spokesperson told Vanity Fair in 2019 that Chelsea and Maxwell had become “friendly” through a mutual friend, and that she had no knowledge of the allegations against her former gal pal until 2015, adding, “she hopes that all the victims find justice.”

The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed both Bill and Hillary Clinton earlier this month as it investigates Epstein’s sprawling network of high-powered associates. Both are scheduled to be deposed in October.
