Huntley, who signed earlier this month amid injuries, was the only former Pro Bowl QB on the roster.

There was a lot of talk about the Browns’ quarterback pool this year, especially since it included two drafted rookies in Sanders and Gabriel.

While Flacco has been tabbed as the starter, Pickett will presumably be the No. 2 when he recovers from the mild hamstring injury that sidelined him this preseason.

Since Gabriel got the nod ahead of Sanders in the team’s preseason finale, however, there is speculation that the Oregon product is on the uptick.

Sanders has had a mixed bag of a preseason, in which he started games against the Panthers and Rams. Asked if he deserved to be on Cleveland’s roster come September, Sanders gave a pointed answer.

“Obviously,” he told reporters. “I think overall as a player I’ve put in the work and everything I do I try to do it the best and that’s all I ask for,” Sanders said. “I feel like everybody feels like they should be on the team and if you ask anybody if they feel like they belong they belong in their own eyes. So I feel like I do, but I’m my own player. I think about myself in a high regard.”

The Browns host the Bengals on Sept. 7 to open the season.
