Armand Membou’s night to forget was a glimpse of his Jets ‘learning curve’

It will likely (hopefully?) turn out to be a blip on the screen in a successful rookie season, but Armand Membou, the Jets’ first-round draft pick, didn’t exactly distinguish himself in the final rehearsal for the regular season Friday night.

The seventh pick in April’s NFL draft, the starting right tackle, was lifted from the game before the first quarter was complete in the Jets’ 19-17 loss to the Eagles in the preseason finale at MetLife Stadium.

Among one of Aaron Glenn’s calling cards as a first-time head coach is his no-nonsense approach and call for accountability. The timing appeared to be Glenn sending a message to Membou for his two penalties in three series.

But after the game, Glenn said Membou was on a play count and he’d played the planned number of plays through the three possessions.
