‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 2 Release Date

A Man on the Inside Season 2 is going back to school and doing so with the help of some new faces.

Ted Danson and Mike Schur’s wholesome comedy is back for its second season, which Netflix announced on Thursday will hit the streaming platform on November 20. This time, rather than investigate missing items at a nursing home, Charles (Danson) is undercover at Wheeler College, where the school’s president (Max Greenfield) is receiving mysterious blackmail messages. At the top of the suspect list this season is irreverent billionaire Brad Vinick (Gary Cole), who is offering up a major donation to the school… but does it have sinister strings?

Also joining the comedy for Season 2 is Danson’s real-life wife, Mary Steenburgen, playing Mona, a free-spirited music teacher at Wheeler who catches Charles’ eye. According to Netflix, Mona’s “zest for life awakens feelings he thought he’d buried after the passing of his wife.” Is she catching his eye or purposely pulling his focus, though? Off-screen, Steenburgen and Danson have been married since 1995, first meeting on the set of Cross Creek in 1983, playing husband and wife long before life would imitate art. Could art now imitate life in A Man on the Inside Season 2?

Along for the ride in the sophomore season, as well, are notable names like Jason Mantzoukas — who previously worked with Schur on The Good Place, Parks & Recreation, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine — Constance Marie, David Strathairn, Michaela Conlin, Lisa Gilroy, Madison Hu, and Sam Huntington. Check out the first look photos below:

Back from Season 1 is Charles’ investigative partner Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), his daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), the director of the Pacific View Retirement Community Didi (Stephanie Beatriz), and one of his closest friends from the nursing home (Stephen McKinley Henderson). Other appearances and guest stars are being kept close to the vest. In Season 2, while Charles is undercover on a new case at Wheeler, Emily will discover an undiscovered and “long-ignored passion,” whereas Julie will reconnect with an important person from her past, a description of the season reads.

All will be revealed when all eight episodes of  Season 2 premiere on Netflix on November 20. The first season of A Man on the Inside is currently streaming on Netflix.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.
