Nicolas Cage’s son Weston claims he’s a ‘target for a lot of misconception’ 1 year after allegedly attacking his mom

Nicolas Cage’s son Weston Coppola Cage claimed he’s a “target for a lot of misconception” after allegedly attacking his mom, Christina Fulton, last year.

The actor discussed how he’s holding up since making headlines for the alleged incident, telling the Daily Mail at the OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas Friday, “It’s strengthened me. I can only give radical forgiveness.

“I’ve definitely been a target for a lot of misconception my whole life, but I know that only happens to people that people are intimidated by the calling of.”

Weston, 34, told the outlet that his forthcoming documentary — tentatively titled “Beast of God” — would address his “childhood story.”

“It’ll keep Xanax in business, for sure, for the people that watch it,”  he said.

He also reflected on removing people from his life who “needed to be eliminated,” explaining that “once that happens it’s better than eliminating other things, like bad habits.”

“It allows the universe to pour everything you’re meant for into it,” he added.

Weston — who suffers from a “mental health disorder” — was arrested for assault in July 2024 after he allegedly attacked Fulton, 58, that April at his apartment.

The actress claimed her son “almost” killed her after he “snapped” — allegedly dragging her by the hair and trying to suffocate her.

“He shoved his thumb in my eye socket,” Fulton alleged. “The pain was excruciating. My vision went black. I was losing consciousness.”

A friend of Weston’s allegedly intervened to stop the attack.

Weston, who pleaded not guilty, dodged jail time and was sentenced to a mental health diversion program for two years after a judge ruled he had suffered from “a breakdown.”

At the time, Weston’s lawyer, Michael A. Goldstein, told People that he “is appreciative that the court considered his ongoing and responsible rehabilitation efforts and granted mental health diversion.”

Fulton and Nicolas, 61, who dated from 1988 to 1991, welcomed their son in 1990.

Fulton didn’t appear to attend Weston’s wedding to Jenifer Alexa Canter in May, though the “National Treasure” star was present.
