Gal Gadot Says ‘Snow White’ Box Office Flop Was Fueled by Hollywood Pressure Over Israel

Gal Gadot is pointing fingers at Hollywood’s political climate for the epic failure of Disney’s Snow White.

In a new appearance on Israeli talk show The A Talks, the actress said she believes the “pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel” “greatly affected” the box office bomb, which cost Disney a reported $115 million.

“First of all, I have to say that I really enjoyed filming this movie,” Gadot told the hosts in Hebrew, per The Jerusalem Post.

When asked about her on-screen co-star, Gadot added, “I even enjoyed working with Rachel Zegler. We laughed, we talked and it was fun. I was sure that this movie was going to be a huge success.”

The casting already stirred headlines: Gadot previously served in the Israeli Defense Forces, while Zegler has been outspoken in her support of Palestine — reportedly creating friction during the film’s promotion.

Gadot went on to say that the fallout of recent global events spilled over into Hollywood.

“And then October 7 happened, and what’s happening in all kinds of industries, and also in Hollywood, is that there’s a lot of pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel,” she said. “I can always explain and try to give people in the world context about what’s happening and what the reality is here, but in the end, people decide for themselves. I was disappointed that the movie was greatly affected by that and didn’t do well at the box office.”

The controversy hasn’t ended with Snow White. Earlier this year, Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was postponed amid pro-Israel and pro-Palestine demonstrations, and in May, five protesters were detained after disrupting the London set of her upcoming movie The Runner.
