Jets could be perfect match for Giants’ Tommy DeVito
The Jets could make Tommy DeVito an offer he can’t refuse.
While DeVito lingered in Giants training camp as the seldom-used No. 4 quarterback during joint practices, the Jets finished the two days with two just arms available because of injuries to Tyrod Taylor (knee scope) and rookie Brady Cook (ankle) — and then they held an uninspiring free-agent tryout for Nathan Peterman and C.J. Beathard.
Sometimes, the perfect match is so obvious that you can miss it even when both parties share a field, as was the case Saturday night during the Giants-Jets game at MetLife Stadium.
Assuming the Giants cut DeVito with hopes to re-sign him to the practice squad — a near-certainty to happen by Aug. 26 because teams rarely carry four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster — the Jets could swoop in with a waivers claim and a better opportunity for DeVito.
