No Yankees interest in Juan Soto reunion — but one outfielder could swap boroughs
Since the Yankees and Mets were both better with Juan Soto in The Bronx, I asked Yankees officials if they’d consider a do-over and take Soto back in trade. The answer: No. (The Mets probably wouldn’t trade him, anyway.)
The Yankees may not be entirely over the rejection. But the answer I got was: Nobody is taking that contract.
When I pointed out the Yankees offered only $5M less — $760M to $765M — and the Mets already paid $126M of it, including the $75M signing bonus, the answer was still no.
Soto and Aaron Judge had a special relationship. The adjustment to the Mets still seems to be an ongoing thing.
