Crook back in jail for allegedly swiping government car 2 hours after leaving Louisiana lockup
A dim-witted crook landed back behind bars for allegedly swiping a government vehicle for a ride home two hours after walking out of a Louisiana lockup.
Lisa Cleaver, 42, was hit with theft charges and hauled back to Livingston Parish Detention Center in Livingston Monday morning after stealing a department of public works truck — and leaving her discharge papers inside, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the dolt first tried to hijack an unmarked squad car from the jail parking lot immediately after her 7 a.m. release on criminal trespassing charges.

“During our investigation, deputies learned Cleaver — as soon as she stepped foot out of the LPDC upon her release — attempted to gain entry into an LPSO unmarked unit in the front parking lot,” Sheriff Jason Ard said in a statement.
“She was unsuccessful.”
Cleaver then made off with the public works truck before ditching it and hitching a ride with someone heading south along State Highway 63, police said.

Authorities rushed to the area after receiving reports of a suspicious woman wandering in the middle of the highway and found the blundering outlaw inside a grocery store, where she was detained.
She was charged with theft of a vehicle and attempted theft of a vehicle.
The investigation into the botched heist is ongoing.
Livingston Parish is located about 35 miles east of Baton Rouge.
