Cops hunt suspect in broad daylight NYC shooting



Police are still searching for a gunman who randomly opened fire on another man in Queens Tuesday afternoon, authorities said Thursday.

The shooting happened in the bright sun just before 2:45 p.m. in front of an apartment building on Cornaga Avenue in Far Rockaway

The suspect rained bullets down on the 22-year-old man, striking him multiple times, cops said.

But police are still unsure why the violence occurred.

It doesn’t appear the two men knew each other and there was no verbal dispute leading up to the altercation, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

Cops described the gunman as having a dark complexion, around 5 feet 9 inches tall and heavy-set with short black hair and brown eyes. DCPI

The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and is in stable condition, police said.

The gunman was captured on surveillance fleeing the scene in a white T-shirt, black pants, a red zip up sweater and black shoes. He headed south on Beach 19th Street, investigators said.
