Sauce Gardner misses Jets’ practice at Giants with injury

The Jets didn’t even put their Sauce on the side.

Sauce Gardner is dealing with calf soreness, head coach Aaron Glenn said, and didn’t make the trip to East Rutherford with his teammates Wednesday for joint practices against the Giants.

“We’re going to evaluate him and see exactly where he is at,” Glenn said.

No major alarms bell. Yet.

It is noteworthy that fellow injured stars Quinnen Williams and Jermaine Johnson were on the sideline in street clothes and not practicing.

Gardner became the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback just before camp opened by receiving a four-year, $120.4 million contract and has played to his reputation this summer, including in the preseason opener against the Packers.

But, with Giants receiver Malik Nabers held out due to a toe injury, it was already going to be a less meaningful practice for Gardner than it could have been if the two stars were battling each other.
