Pete Alonso hits 254th homer after breaking Mets’ franchise record
Pete Alonso didn’t wait long to break his own record.
The Mets slugger went deep in the bottom of the sixth inning against the Braves on Tuesday night for the 254th home run of his career — just three frames after he broke Darryl Strawberry’s franchise record with No. 253.

His latest long ball went 405 feet to left-center field, extending the Mets’ lead to 11-5.
It marked the 28th dinger of the season — and sixth in 10 games — for the Polar Bear, who tied Strawberry’s mark on Saturday.

“To say you are a franchise leader, it’s special,” he said after hitting No. 252. Not many people get to see that. You have the runway to play here. I have been here seven years and with my game and skill set if you were to tell me that, it would be like, ‘OK, yeah, sweet, checks out.’”
