King Charles sells new jam for $6 —half the price of Meghan Markle’s preserves

King Charles has slashed the prices of his jams to less than half of what his estranged daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, charges for her As Ever preserves.

The monarch, 76, has been selling jam at top grocery stores in the UK through his Duchy of Cornwall estate for years.

The king had recently reduced the price to just $6.70 per jar — a far cheaper alternative than the Duchess of Sussex’s $14 preserve.

Charles’s raspberry jam is now being sold at the gift shop at Sandringham, with a wider rollout expected at a later date.

“Our Sandringham raspberry preserve is naturally made to a unique recipe, with locally sourced ingredients,” the item description reads. “This ruby-red conserve is perfect on warm buttered toast, or for topping a freshly baked scone.”

Markle’s description, however, boasts that the As Ever preserve “mixes the sweetness of raspberries with a hint of lemon.”

“And is crafted with a fluid texture so it can be drizzled, spread, poured and enjoyed for so much more than your morning toast,” the description adds.

The “Suits” alum’s jam rollout caused a frenzy earlier this year — for many reasons.

While the products sold out almost immediately after the former actress launched her lifestyle brand, Markle did also admit some of her pals weren’t too happy with her gifting approach.

The mom of two sent out lemon-filled gift baskets containing fresh fruit jam to 50 of her friends last summer, but soon revealed that her nearest and dearest friends “took it personally” after not receiving a jar.

During an episode of her “With Love, Meghan” Netflix show earlier this year, Markle discussed the faux pas with her celeb pal, Mindy Kaling.

“When I received a box of your preserves in the mail, it was probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life,” the “Mindy Project” star told Markle.

“But then, I looked at the label and it said there were like 50, and then I, of course, as a very hierarchical person, was like, ‘Who are these other people? Does having a lower number make me more special?’”

“I did not think about it,” Markle said in response. “It was not a ranking. It was just, ‘Let me share them.’ And then people started to take it very personally.”

Kaling — whose jar was labeled 19 of 50 — revealed that she rushed over to Instagram to search for other recipients of Markle’s preserves.

Markle then revealed that the very first batch, labeled 1 of 50, was reserved for her mother, Doria Ragland.

“I did save 1 of 50 for my mom,” Markle admitted. “Felt like the right thing to do. And then I just thought, ‘Anyone who got one of those 50 jars that I was making on my stove in my actual kitchen at my house.’ I hope they all felt like, ‘No, I want to share this with you.’”

“It was extremely good,” Kaling says. “And a lot of people asked to taste it. And you know what I told them? Get your own jar.”

Markle has since introduced various products to the As Ever line-up, including two ranges of rosé.

The duchess, 44, had a successful first drop with her debut 2023 Napa Valley Rosé, which saw the entire stock sell out in just one hour.

However, after introducing the vintage 2024 Napa Valley Rosé, it appears as though shoppers weren’t as keen to get their hands on the bottles the second time around.

Her foray into the wine world has likely piqued the interest of several royals, including Prince Harry’s cousins Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer, who launched their own rosé wine range this year.

The late Princess Diana’s nieces announced the impending release of their Lala V wine range in March, revealing that the name carries significant meaning.
