Jets eager for star-studded matchups with Giants in big joint practice test

Both the Jets and Giants provided plenty of reasons for optimism in their preseason openers. Now, they’ll look to build even more confidence against each other.

The two teams are set for two joint practices — Tuesday at the Jets facility in Florham Park and Wednesday at the Giants facility in East Rutherford — before squaring off for their second preseason game Saturday.

Aaron Glenn, in his first season with the Jets, has made it a point to conduct intense, physical practices. He is one of the only coaches in the league to have his team fully tackling in certain portions of practice. Brian Daboll, entering his fourth season, is on the other side of the spectrum. Though he played certain starters in the Giants preseason opener against the Bills, he traditionally is more cautious.

There are so often fights and scraps during joining practices. Could the contrasting styles of the two teams’ practices the past few weeks lead to bad blood when they come together?
