Jennifer Aniston isn’t a fan of these two nineties trends
Jennifer Aniston is here for the ’90s revival.
The actress, who portrayed Rachel Green in the decade’s hit sitcom “Friends,” is on board with many blast-from-the-past looks coming back into the zeitgeist — but has her thoughts on what should be kept in the past.
Aniston reflected on the decade’s fashion in a new cover story interview with Vanity Fair. “I celebrate the ’90s coming back,” the A-lister, 56, said. “Except for those narrow sunglasses and the really thin eyebrows.”
She does, however, “love vintage clothes from the decade.” Aniston added, “They fit me so well.”
In the series, which ran from 1994 to 2004, Aniston’s character Rachel was known for her fashion-forward wardrobe, with key items including printed slip dresses, plaid skirts and baby tees.
Since the show aired, Rachel’s outfits have consistently been referenced in pop culture.
Hailey Bieber, for one, channeled the beloved character for Halloween in 2023, dressing up in a black long-sleeve turtleneck, plaid miniskirt and leather loafers and Aniston herself was compared to her most famous character while on a recent dinner date with Pedro Pascal.
Her Vanity Fair photoshoot looks, though, were much more fashion forward, rather than referential. The award-winning actress was pictured doing yard work in high-design items from Saint Laurent, Schiaparelli and Balenciaga.
Of course, with an acting career spanning decades, Aniston has accumulated many incredible fashion items, some of which she revealed she’s passed down to BFF Jason Bateman and wife Amanda Anka’s (very lucky) daughter Francesca, 18
Aniston often notices her friends’ teen wearing her clothing, including during their family vacations.
“Well, there’s my bikini,” she joked, recalling moments when Francesca was clad in her swimwear. “Your child is now wearing my bikinis. Whoa. We’ve come a long way.”
Another close friend of Aniston’s is Gwyneth Paltrow, whom she turns to for beauty and wellness insight — as well as gossip about mutual ex Brad Pitt.
“We’re always swapping advice — ‘What are you doing for this? What are you doing for that? Do you have a new doctor for that?’” she told Vanity Fair.
We’d love to be in that group chat.
