Pete Alonso ties Darryl Strawberry’s Mets home run record
Darryl Strawberry has company atop the Mets’ all-time home run list.
Pete Alonso blasted career homer No. 252 in the second inning on Saturday to tie Strawberry as the franchise’s all-time leader. The homer against the Brewers’ Tobias Myers was Alonso’s 26th this season.
In June, the slugging first baseman had a two-homer game at Colorado that moved him ahead of David Wright for second place on the Mets’ all-time list. Wright hit 242 homers.

But Alonso endured a drought beginning in late June and didn’t pick up the pace until the Mets’ homestand. Alonso hit three homers in four games to begin the homestand.
Strawberry set his franchise record from 1983-90. Strawberry, in establishing his mark, broke Dave Kingman’s franchise record of 154 homers.
