‘RHOM’ Star Adriana de Moura Claims Scheana Shay “Got In The Middle” Of Her Brief Romance With ‘Below Deck’ Captain Jason Chambers

Whether she’s calling out Marysol Patton‘s wrinkly knees or admitting to a past tryst with Below Deck Down Under‘s Captain Jason Chambers, Adriana de Moura is always giving us something to talk about. When it comes to the latter, the Real Housewives of Miami star has her theories as to why that short-lived romance came to an end—and it may or may not have to do with Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay.

During a taping of BravoCon Live at BravoCon 2023, de Moura admitted to making out with Chambers on one of the three dates they went on after he slid into her DMs. “It was pretty soft and sweet, and it wasn’t aggressive. I had a good feeling [about] it,” de Moura remembered while chatting with Decider. However, she speculated that Shay “got in the middle” of things by immediately telling Chambers a different version of what was said at the taping, which didn’t air on Bravo until the following week.

“I said it at the filming [for BravoCon Live]. In the van, she was already texting him and spinning it in a different way,” de Moura claimed. “By the time it got back to him, it was said in a negative way. But that’s not how I meant it. I meant to say, ‘Well, we had a good time.’”

Whether de Moura and Shay will be featured on the next installment of “Squash that Beef” won’t be known until BravoCon 2025 rolls around in November. In the meantime, de Moura is preparing to face her foes—namely, her former best friend Julia Lemigova—at the Real Housewives of Miami Season 7 reunion. With their friendship on the outs, de Moura is “hoping for the best” and “preparing for the worst” when it comes time to confront Lemigova, who has struck up an unlikely friendship with her nemeses Alexia Nepola and Patton.

From the sounds of it, moderator Andy Cohen will have his work cut out for him. In response to Lemigova’s apology for throwing water on Guerdy Abraira during her recent Watch What Happens Live appearance, de Moura doubted the former beauty queen’s sincerity.

“I believe that Julia is the worst actress out of all of us,” de Moura told us. “That wasn’t very convincing. She’s not getting an Oscar for that performance, darling.”

When the “Fyah” singer stopped by Decider’s studio this week, she also opened up about getting “demoted” to a “friend of,” her pursuits of a Master’s degree from Harvard, and why she doesn’t follow the “mob mentality” in her friend group. Check out the full interview below.

DECIDER: I’m so excited to have you here. How were you feeling going into Season 7 of The Real Housewives of Miami?

ADRIANA DE MOURA: I was pretty excited that we have been so successful and [we were getting] another season and [we were] ready to bring it. I had a little arm candy to begin with. So that was like, “OK, let’s start on the right foot.”

Are you still seeing the same guy?

No, unfortunately we’re not [together]. He lives in Paris, mostly. He was working in Miami, but he had to go to Paris. And then he got stuck there for six months. It was hard to keep things that long distance, even [with] the time difference. So, we’re no longer. But it was great while it lasted.

I still can’t believe that after all these years you are still considered a “friend of.” Who do we have to talk to to get you that full-time title?

Oh, wow. Please. Yeah. Well, you have to ask Bravo.

Is that something you’re hoping for in the future? Or are you happy where you are?

I wouldn’t be honest if I said I’m happy being demoted. Who’s happy being demoted ever? I thought I was such a seminal part of the show and I always brought it. Love me or hate me, but I’m honest to a fault. I think my life circumstances changed, and perhaps they were concerned that I wouldn’t be able to bring enough on mostly on my own. But I think I proved them wrong otherwise.

I want to get into everything going on this season, but first, I want to talk about the yacht trip. You were a little bit over-served, which was so funny. What was it like watching those scenes back?

I didn’t remember half of it. It was crazy. I was like, “What? I said that? I did all those things? Oh, my God.” I was a little petrified in a way, because it wasn’t very nice. I think I was bottling in a lot of emotions because I felt like Marysol was gunning for me from [the day] we got back together for Season 7. [She was] excluding me from scenes and really not allowing me to film. I’m including them in my scenes, like when I did Julia’s baby shower. I thought we were good in a way. We weren’t about to be besties again, but we were good. So I was surprised and I was very triggered by somebody saying, “I refuse to be in the boat with you.” I was like, “Well, we work together. We’re in the same group. And guess what? You were just at my event and I was fine. You were there.” I was confused and I was hurt and triggered and over-served. One thing led to the next.

What was it like to hear Julia say that you’re not a fun drunk like Marysol?

Have you seen the little polyp face? All the way up there. There’s a new term in scientific terms, it’s called the Julia Polyp. Like, seriously? How can you be more up somebody’s butt?

Speaking of Marysol, would you say that Julia’s friendship with her and Alexia was the main reason for your fallout? Or was there something else that we’ll see in the second half of the season?

I think the straw that broke the camel’s back was what happened when I wasn’t there – when Julia threw the glass of water on Guerdy at Marysol’s 10th wedding celebration that I wasn’t invited to. I was asked to have a position [and] I wasn’t present. I don’t like making very decisive opinions based on something that I wasn’t there [for]. I was trying to be friends with both of them, and I was trying to bring them together. My position at that time was more of an altruistic position, saying, “How can we find a middle ground and move on from this?” That was my position. I don’t think Julia was happy with it. That started to be the point of contention.

You were one of the very few people in your cast to clock that Guerdy showing text messages was much less severe than Julia throwing water. Why do you think they had such a hard time understanding that point of view?

Because some of these girls have this mob mentality, meaning you have to just agree with whatever the mastermind is telling you. I’m not like that. I use critical thinking. I’m a very educated person. I like to make assumptions that are based on evidence and are based on warranted arguments. I’m not going to just sit there and go on hearsay because, again, I wasn’t present. I believe that everybody needs to be heard and seen. So, that was my position. I wasn’t just going to walk out and not have my own position. I know how to make my own conclusions.

I do think that’s what makes you such a great Housewife. You’re not as willing to just go with what everyone else says.

I do believe that receipts on a wall – perhaps it wasn’t the best time, but to me, is a lot less aggressive than getting a glass [of water] thrown in your face.

You have been super active in the comments section lately. Why didn’t you buy Julia’s apology to Guerdy on Watch What Happens Live?

I believe that Julia is the worst actress out of all of us. That wasn’t very convincing. She’s not getting an Oscar for that performance, darling …  It was so rehearsed and memorized and awkward. It was very awkward … She apologized, but then two minutes later, she’s saying, “Well, Guerdy is the worst narcissist.” Then the next question [asked] who Martina likes the least, and it’s me. So I’m like, “You just apologized, but then you threw her under the bus and then you threw me under the bus. So what is this apology about?”

I loved to see you, Guerdy and Lisa Hochstein out together the other night. Are you guys the new three musketeers?

Definitely. Miami’s angels.

I have to say, Stephanie has not been afraid to go up against Alexia this season. What did you think of her?

I love Stephanie because she’s not afraid. She stands her ground. Not only is she fashionable, fabulous, and is not afraid to show who she truly is, but she will also tell you to your face how she feels. I resonate with that because I’m the same way. Sometimes [I’m] too honest – brutally honest, but honest. I appreciate somebody that is also honest.

The reunion is coming up. What do you anticipate happening? What’s one thing you’re hoping to address or get out of it?

I hope to find some kind of resolution to so many heightened emotions we have at this point. I feel like sometimes it’s easier for you to be angry when you’re just behind a phone [or] if you’re just making a comment or texting. But there’s something about when you’re face to face with somebody and you look at somebody’s eyes that as a human being, you can empathize. Sometimes, you soften and you find a way to move on. We shall see. I’m hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

BravoCon is also coming up. I was there in the audience when you sang “Fyah” at the last one. Do you have any plans to perform again this year?

I don’t know, I have to talk to the producers to see. I would love to. I have three new songs that will be dropped later in the season. You will see them in the finale. So I am really excited to show new songs, new music, and yeah, maybe I can show something at BravoCon.

You revealed at the last BravoCon that you and Captain Jason Chambers from Below Deck Down Under went on a couple of dates. Captain Jason has since said that nothing happened between you guys. What’s your response to that? What do you remember from your time with him?

No, nothing really happened – and I said that nothing really happened. I wasn’t shading him. I was just saying the truth. He came over to my house a couple of times. One night I cooked for him, and the other night we went out to a Brazilian place. They had live music, we danced, we had fun. Then, on the third date, we went out for a walk by the water and kissed under the moonlight. It was pretty soft and sweet, and it wasn’t aggressive. I had a good feeling [about] it. I think that girl Scheana [Shay] got in the middle, because I said it at the filming [for BravoCon Live]. In the van, she was already texting him and spinning it in a different way. By the time it got back to him, it was said in a negative way. But that’s not how I meant it. I meant to say, “Well, we had a good time.”

Do you think you’d message him and meet up with him in Vegas this year?

No, because that just got in a negative place and I think this is it. But we had several messages that were very friendly. It’s not like he’s proposing to me or anything. [It was just] two people that work for the same network. We were just talking about life. He was talking about his daughter. I was talking about my son, and [what it’s like] to work in the entertainment world. It was a soft and sweet little date. [It was] very casual. [There were] no expectations.

I also heard you are pursuing your Master’s degree at Harvard? Tell me a bit about that. Because that’s amazing.

Yes. I’m pursuing a Master’s in psychology, with a lot of emphasis in neuroscience, brain mechanisms. I don’t need to get into the technical scientific part. But yes, I’m pursuing a Master’s at Harvard and I graduate next spring. So hopefully, we will see that graduation next season [and] I can invite the girls. There will be a Miami moment in Cambridge. You guys are going to see me walk Harvard Yard with a cap and gown.

That’s so amazing. Congratulations in advance!

Thank you. Like it’s hard?

Exactly! What else can you tease about the rest of the season?

There’s a lot coming. Spain was gorgeous. Spain was such a beautiful trip. It was so cinematic. It was great to be there. Of course, there’s going to be drama in Spain because how can we not bring drama anywhere we go? You can’t take us anywhere. But it got so bad at one point that I literally just left the group and went to church to pray. Like, “Please, please make me survive. I want to see my son again.” It got pretty crazy at one point. But overall, it’s beautiful and fun. Yeah, we have a lot coming up. And the finale where I sing my new song!
