Ranking NFL’s 32 starting QBs, from Patrick Mahomes to the rest

Quarterbacks aren’t everything.

In just the past decade, there have been numerous playoff teams led by players you wouldn’t trust to toss your keys, including Mason Rudolph, Mac Jones, Mitch Trubisky (twice), Tyrod Taylor, Marcus Mariota and Brian Hoyer. Brock Osweiler and Daniel Jones were playoff winners. Blake Bortles won back-to-back rounds.

Of course, these are the exceptions. Quarterbacks still control the fates of their teams as much as any player in any sport, borne out by the collection of stars under center each postseason.

With the first full week of NFL preseason games beginning Thursday night, I ranked each of the league’s starting quarterbacks, a list unlikely to trigger criticism of any kind:
