Secondary dominates with two Justin Fields picks at Jets camp

Observations from Jets camp on Tuesday.

Cover story

The secondary was terrific, with Andre Cisco and Tony Adams each intercepting Justin Fields. Sauce Gardner was effective in coverage, breaking up a pass leading to Adams’ pick.

Pass a fail

The passing game looks like a mess right now. Fields had a third straight poor practice and could not do anything effective beyond 5 or so yards past the line of scrimmage. Including 7-on-7s, he was intercepted three times.

Caught my eye

During the first move-the-ball period, with the offense lined up on its own 1-yard line, the Jets lined up with 10 players before committing a false start twice in four plays. It was the low point of an already bad day for the offense.

Injury report

Byron Cowart (ankle), Azareye’h Thomas (shoulder) and Will McDonald IV (back spasms) all left practice early. Tyrod Taylor (knee) and Mason Taylor (high ankle sprain) didn’t practice, and the tight end will miss this week.
