Old teammates confident Aaron Glenn can change Jets’ culture

A number of Aaron Glenn’s former Jets teammates attended Tuesday’s training camp practice. At the end of the long session, quarterback Justin Fields introduced himself to some of the former players.

Hall of Famer Kevin Mawae told Fields about what playing … and winning in New York can be like. Mawae told Fields of a time in 2017 when he was walking down a Manhattan street and a truck driver stopped, rolled down his window and said, “Hey, Kevin, welcome home.”

“That’s what New York is about,” Mawae said Tuesday. “When you win, that’s how people feel about you. It’s good to be home.”

Tuesday’s appearance by Mawae and other former Jets like Ray Mickens, Jason Fabini, Wayne Chrebet, Victor Green and others brought something to the training center that has become a rarity — people who know what it feels like to win in a Jets uniform.
