ESPN hires Katie Feeney for new lifestyle role



Katie Feeney is bringing her 14 million social media followers to ESPN as a sports & lifestyle content creator.

The recent Penn State graduate will create content across ESPN’s social and digital channels, as well as make appearances on several studio shows, including “Sunday NFL Countdown”, “Monday Night Countdown” and “College GameDay,’ ESPN said Monday in a press release.

“Feeney will bring her signature first-person, lifestyle-driven approach – a blend of on-site access, fashion, and culture – to fans.”

Feeney, who has 7.6 million followers on SnapChat and 1.2 million Instagram followers, announced the news with an Instagram video of her catching a football while on the “Get Up” set in New York.

“Hey do you have a microphone I can borrow? I may need it this season,” Feeney said in the joint post with ESPNPR.. “How about a football?” (Cue the catch).

Feeney graduated from Penn State with her Bachelor’s Degree in June.

She signed with CAA for representation in January.

“From capturing Penn State games on the sidelines to now joining the biggest platform in sports, this journey has been incredible,” Feeney said. “I grew up watching ‘SportsCenter’ with my family, and I’m proud to now be part of the storytelling that brings ESPN to millions of fans around the world.”

It’s one of the latest moves in ESPN’s quest to appeal to younger consumers and lean into social media.

Feeney is one of the top influential creators in the sports space.

In February, she teamed up with Fever superstar Caitlin Clark and Gatorade for a contest in football drills.

She covered Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans.

In 2022, Feeney became the first-ever social media correspondent for an NFL team, the Washington Commanders — and YouTube invited her to be an official correspondent at Super Bowl LVI that year.

Feeney has covered the Oscars, and appeared on Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff” and on ESPN’s “ESPY Awards.”

She has worked with brands including Google, T-Mobile, Truist, and more.
