Brooke Hogan’s husband details cause of rift with Hulk Hogan
Brooke Hogan’s husband, Steve Olesky, is setting the record straight on the “challenging” relationship the singer had with her father that led to two years of estrangement.
The relationship broke down over a “series of phone calls” between them, during which “there were some things said, and a lot of mistruths,” Olesky told People in an interview published Saturday.
The former hockey player emphasized that the rift was not influenced by Hulk’s 46-year-old wife, Sky Daily, as rumors had suggested.
“My wife will say it — it had nothing to do with his new wife,” Olesky said. “It had to do with the way he treated her.”
According to Brooke’s spouse, Hulk skipped their 2022 wedding — and told Olesky he “doesn’t do weddings or funerals anymore.”
Brooke, 37, subsequently missed Hulk’s wedding to Sky Daily in September 2023, leading to the estrangement.
Brooke’s husband said he “remained in contact with members of her family to try to keep that door open and understand if I should protect my wife or try to mend the relationship.”
Oleksy also explained that Brooke’s support of her father had “really taken a toll on her” — especially given his multiple controversies, including the use of a racial slur toward her ex-boyfriend in a leaked sex tape audio recording in 2012.
“It was a situation where she loved her dad very, very much,” Olesky explained.
Throughout the two years Brooke and her famous dad were estranged, Olesky told the outlet that “each and every conversation” he engaged in with Hulk “just led me further to protect my family and my wife at all costs.”
Though he told the outlet it had been “challenging,” Olesky was nonetheless grateful to “experience the love my wife had for her dad and entire family every day.”
“With that love comes heartache and comes many challenges that she’s faced in the public and that she still faces today because of others’ actions,” he continued.
“At the end of the day, knowing how much she loves everybody in her family, I always try to support decisions that she made, and I always tried to support the relationships that she envisioned.”
Olesky previously told the outlet that Hulk had shown “no interest” in meeting his and Brooke’s twins — born in January — amid the tension.
Brooke had also reportedly asked to be removed from her father’s will in 2023, according to TMZ, citing a lack of trust for those around him.
Olesky’s comments come just over a week after his father-in-law’s death at age 71.
A source told Page Six at the time that despite the family rift — which also involved Brooke’s mother Linda, 65 — the father-daughter pair loved each other.
“He was very proud of her, she was his little girl,” the insider told us. “We still can’t believe he is gone.”
