Yankees acquire reliever Jake Bird from Rockies
More reinforcements are coming to the Yankees’ bullpen.
The team acquired reliever Jake Bird from the Rockies ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported.
In exchange, the Yankees are shipping second base prospect Roc Riggio and left-handed pitching prospect Ben Shields to Colorado, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Bird, 29, has posted a 4.73 ERA in 45 appearances (53.1 innings) this season with the last-place Rockies (28-80).
Riggio was ranked as the Yankees’ 10th-best prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and Shields was ranked as the 28th-best.
Both Riggio and Shields were playing for Double-A Somerset ahead of the trade.
It was the second trade of the day for the Yankees aimed at bolstering their bullpen, previously landing David Bednar from the Pirates.
